Historic Drop in Cigarette Sales

Historic Drop in Cigarette Sales The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) has announced a big drop in U.S. cigarette sales, which probably means a large drop in cigarette smoking. Although the link between cigarette sales and smoking is not 100% (there is a growing black market in cigarettes, but no solid data on the number of cigarettes sold this way), this drop probably means significant success for the 1998 settlement with big tobacco companies. Smokeless tobacco is not addressed, but NAAG has also negotiated a Smokeless Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement which should impact that form of tobacco use.
