Deployment: Pakistan

Environmental health factors posing the greatest risk (in descending order) to forces deployed to Pakistan include:
  • contamination of water supplies with untreated sewage and industrial wastes,
  • diurnal temperature extremes,
  • localized air pollution,
  • frequent dust storms in the southeast
  • contaminated seafood, wheat, fruits, and vegetables,
  • high altitude primarily in the mountain ranges.

Pre-deployment immunizations for all personnel include Hepatitis A, MMR, Td and Influenza. Selected personnel may require other vaccines as dictated by appropriate medical authority. Malaria risk is variable.
