Deployment: Liberia

Environmental health factors posing the greatest risk (in descending order) to forces deployed to Liberia include:
  • dust-laden harmattan winds blow from the Sahara (December to March),
  • malaria is widespread and occurs year-round
  • one of the highest risk areas in the world for Lassa fever
Pre-deployment immunizations for all personnel include Yellow Fever and Meningococcal Meningitis. Selected personnel may require other vaccines as dictated by appropriate medical authority. Year-round, countrywide risk of malarial infection.
