Deployment: Egypt

Environmental health factors posing the greatest risk (in descending order) to forces deployed to Egypt include:
  • contamination of water supplies with raw sewage and industrial discharges,
  • localized air pollution,
  • extreme desert heat along with summer diurnal temperature extremes,
  • vegetables and fish contaminated with pesticides or lead,
  • and localized soil contamination from industrial wastes and pesticides.

Pre-deployment immunizations for all personnel include Hepatitis A, MMR, Td, Influenza and Typhoid. Selected personnel may require other vaccines as dictated by appropriate medical authority. There is no risk of malarial infection.
