The health risks are well-known, but unfortunately, breaking the habit is very difficult because nicotine is a very addictive substance. Beware Of Substitutions!

No Smoking Chewing tobacco, cigars, or other forms of tobacco are NOT safe alternatives for cigarettes. These products are highly addictive. Individuals using these products have a 4 to 10 times higher risk of dying from throat and mouth cancer than nonsmokers. Cigars tend to be held in the mouth for a longer time than cigarettes and provide direct exposure of the mouth to tobacco.1 Carcinogens are more concentrated in smokeless tobacco products and can cause cancer at a younger age.2 For more information on tobacco’s health risks, open the Tobacco and You door.
